How you can help
Conduct your own drive, donate blood or donate money or volunteer
Conduct your drive

LifeBlood Council assists establishments to conduct their own blood drives in their premises
Blood Donation Drive: A Blood Donation Drive can become a part of your organisation’s annual events calendar. You can easily conduct a blood donation program with our assistance. LifeBlood Council helps you in every aspect, so get in touch with us using the link below. Download the informative pdf ‘All You Should Know About Blood Donation’ to know best practices.
Stem Cell Donor Registry Drive: Stem cell transplantation offers a permanent cure for patients with blood disorders. But this option works only if a matching stem cell donor is found, the likelihood of which is as low as 1 in 5000.
It is important to build a large registry of intending stem cell donors whose HLA has been typed. The chance of a correct match is higher if the registry has people of the same ethnicity.
You can help us build a large registry of people of Indian origin. We can help you organise a Drive in your organisation premises and collect blood samples of people willing to become lifesavers, no less. Get in touch with us using the link below.
Thalassemia screening drive: When both partners in a marriage are Thalassemia Minors, they run the risk of having a child with Thalassemia Major, a serious blood disorder.
You can conduct a screening drive in your establishment to identify Thalassemia Minors. LifeBlood Council will assist you with a lab team to carry out the test at subsidised rates. Get in touch with us using the link below.
Donate blood

LifeBlood Council encourages blood donors to register themselves with us in case of need
Blood donor: Donating blood is a significant act. Check the listing of blood centres to find your nearest centre. As a donor, you don’t have to wait for a call. You can proactively donate on your own initiative as and when you can.
Platelet donor: Platelets are required by cancer patients among others. A ‘regular’ blood donation does not ensure platelet quality. Only blood collected through a process called apheresis is suitable. Learn more about apheresis and platelets in our free pdf ‘All You Should Know About Blood Donation’. Do register as a platelet donor with LifeBlood Council.
Granulocyte donor: Granulocytes are white blood cells which help fight infections. They are life-saving for cancer patients after chemotherapy and patients who have undergone stem cell transplantation. They need apheresis granulocyte donors. Learn more in our free pdf ‘All You Should Know About Blood Donation’. Do register as a granulocyte donor with LifeBlood Council.
Bombay blood group donor: A rare, one-in-a-lakh occurrence, the Bombay blood group is characterised by the absence of H Antigen, present in almost everyone.
If Antigen D is also present, it is termed Bombay Rh+ve and if absent it is termed Bombay Rh-ve. The actual number of people identified with the Bombay blood group in India are a mere 450.
Volunteer

LifeBlood Council encourages volunteers to join them and trains them
Become a volunteer with us. We are always on the lookout for helping hands and hearts. We welcome and train volunteers to conduct our activities in an effective, professional manner. Every volunteer takes us closer to the goal of achieving blood adequacy and comprehensive management of Thalassemia. In turn, a volunteer discovers that serving the community in a meaningful way is its own reward.
