DKMS-BMST Foundation India
LifeBlood Council is in partnership with DKMS-BMST Foundation India due to commonality of our goals and we work jointly in achieving them.

Fighting blood cancer and other blood disorders
DKMS BMST Foundation India is a non-profit organization dedicated to the fight against blood cancer and other blood disorders, such as thalassemia and aplastic anaemia. The aim of the Foundation is to improve the situation of patients suffering from blood cancer and other blood disorders in India and throughout the world, by raising awareness about blood stem cell transplantation and registering potential blood stem cell donors.
DKMS-BMST Thalassemia Programme offer HLA-Typing offers HLA-Typing to persons with Thalassemia Major and their siblings and parents. If the Report indicates a match with a family member, the patient will be eligible for a stem cell transplantation which potentially will be a permanent cure from the disorder.
The parallel initiative of the Foundation is to create awareness about stem cells transplantation, and conduct drives in the general population register potential blood stem cells donors. Those patients who are not able to find a matching donor in the family can search for a match from the DKMS-BMST Registry. Having a Registry with a large number of potential blood stem cells donors improves the chances of the patient finding a match.
LifeBlood Council is in partnership with DKMS-BMST Foundation India due to commonality of our goals and we work jointly in achieving them. LifeBlood Council organizes HLA Typing Camps for patients with Thalassaemia Major and their relatives through our association with Thalassaemia Day Care Centres across the country.
Secondly, LifeBlood Council conducts awareness and recruitment drives for registering potential blood stem donors in educational institutions, commercial establishments, and other organizations – all those institutions with whom LifeBlood Council is already associated in blood donation drives and Thalassaemia Minor screening camps.
